Sunshine Coast trainer Stuart Kendrick won’t be disappointed if the forecast late Saturday afternoon storms arrived twenty-four hours early to give his colt Fullazaboot a winning chance in Saturday’s $2m Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast.

Fullazaboot has only competed on rain affected tracks for a win at Doomben in October and a second at Doomben on December 9 and Kendrick could see a wet surface helping the colt overcome the extreme outside barrier in the capacity sixteen horse field.

“Probably no one else would want one but a storm late in the week would be handy,” Kendrick told AAP.

“A wet track suiting the horses coming wide would be lovely.”

“To date Fullazaboot has not been on a dry track as his two race starts and two trials have been on wet going.”

Kendrick has given Fullazaboot a barrier trial since running second in a 1200m Doomben two year old Handicap and was happy with the way the Sepoy colt rounded off his Magic Millions 2yo Classic preparation with a two and a quarter lengths win.

“He trialled very strongly two weeks ago at Caloundra and that topped him off nicely,” Kendrick said.

Sydney based jockey Tye Angland takes the ride on Fullazaboot who has been posted as one of the outsiders of the Magic Millions 2yo Classic field at $34 with Ladbrokes.com.au.

The Tony McEvoy trained Sunlight continues to firm at the top of the market and on Thursday was marked as the $4 favourite ahead of Jonker at $4.60 and Ef Troop at $5.

Sunlight is the winner of two of her three race starts and trainer Tony McEvoy has given the Zoustar filly plenty of practice on the tricky Gold Coast track with the filly winning both her outings there.

Saturday’s Magic Million 2yo Classic jockey Luke Currie allowed Sunlight to lead all of the way for a four and three quarter lengths win in a 900m  two year old Handicap at the Gold Coast on December 23 and then the Melbourne based jockey used the same tactics on the filly to record a four and a half lengths victory against the two year olds over 1100m last Saturday.

Hugh Bowman takes the ride on Jonker who has drawn the best barrier of the most fancied runners and will jump from gate two if all of the emergencies fail to gain a start.

Tony Gollan’s undefeated youngster Ef Troop looks likely to jump from barrier thirteen after drawing the eighteen marble in the original draw which followed the release of the final field of sixteen plus five emergencies.
