Jason Warren can’t wait to see Bel Sonic tackle 1400m for the first time in his career as he looks to cash in on the lucrative $2M on offer in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.

The son of Bel Esprit jumps from barrier 11 of 16, “I think it will suit him as he’ll be able to find his feet,” Warren said. “He’ll be able to settle midfield and not get out of his comfort zone.”

Warren said Bel Sonic had handled working in the clockwise direction in good style.

“He was in a jumpout at Eagle Farm and he handled it well and he’s since worked well at the Gold Coast on the course proper,” he added

.

The horse travelled up North 2 weeks ago and Warren believes this has been the key to preparing him for today’s Grand Final. “The horse has been thriving since he’s been here, he can be a bit hot at times but his attitude has been exemplary since arriving”, he commented. “Let’s face it, he may never run in a two million dollar race for the rest of his career so I wanted to give him every chance to be cherry ripe for today’s race”.

Most markets have Bel Sonic rated a $15 chance, good value for those keen on his chances.

The stable saddles up another runner in Star Silk at Headquarters today in Race 5. “He’s in the best shape he’s been all prep, so we thought why not send him to town on a Saturday”, said Warren of the son of Star Witness who faces 5 rivals in the 3yo Rain Lover Handicap. “There are some progressive horses in the race, but anything can happen in these tactical affairs” he added.

Jason has also been active at the Magic Millions Yearling Sales over the last few days, purchasing Lot 185 a son of Nicconi for $150k. “I bought him on type and he reminded me of a horse I trained, The Barrister, which I had a lot of success with. He also added Lot 75 to his yearling roster, a Bay Filly by first season sire Shooting To Win for $45k.
