Smart race mare Prompt Response is on target to win her first Group 1 race with a very impressive first up win in the Group 2 $200,000 Yarraman Park Breeders Classic (1200m) at Warwick Farm today.

Co-trainer Adrian Bott said Prompt Response will now be set for a Group 1 campaign over the Sydney Autumn Carnival, aiming towards the $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on Match 17 following by the $1m Coolmore Legacy Queen Of The Turf (1600m) at Randwick on April 14, day two of The Championships.

“We have got a nice Group 1 preparation for her this time in and hopefully a race like the Coolmore will be perfect for her, 1500m, and then into the Queen Of The Turf at the end of the Carnival,” said Bott who trains in partnership with Gai Waterhouse.

“She has been so consistent throughout her career and great to see her do that today.”

“Today she has come back with an explosive win. I think her chances will continue to improve as she steps up over further but it was just great to see her back in such great order today.”

Blake Shinn had Prompt Response ($5) in the firing line from the outset and she was with the leading division when heads were turned for home.

Runner up Egyptian Symbol ($2.40 favourite) loomed up on the bend and tried to match it with Prompt Response but was left wanting in the run to the line with third placegetter Danish Twist ($14) doing her best work at the finish.

Egyptian Symbol’s stablemate Bonney O’Reilly was well in the betting at $5 but after racing on the pace faded in the straight to finish in sixth position.
