Invitations, Cayman Nites and new stable addition Unbreakable are all set to run in Darwin during the Top End’s major racing Carnival.
Invitations will take aim at the Palmerston Sprint over 1200m on August 5 and Unbreakable will eye the 2000m Darwin Cup two days later on August 7.
Cayman Nites could also head north with the filly a chance to contest three year-old races in both July and August.
The Northern Territory is a place Michael Hickmott has enjoyed plenty of success having started his training career there as a teenager.
Hickmott is excited at the prospect of Invitations competing in the Territory’s top sprint race.
He believes Invitations is the ideal horse for a race like the Palmerston Sprint.
“He could sit off a hot speed and work into the race like we saw him do at Morphettville last start,” Hickmott said.
“Unfortunately we didn’t pick up a win throughout his three most recent runs in Adelaide but now it’s all about looking ahead to Darwin.”
New addition Unbreakable arrives just in time for a tilt at the $200,000 Darwin Cup.
The four year-old gelding is a five-time winner from 20 starts and the son of Hard Spun looks to fit the profile for the Territory’s biggest and richest race.
Hickmott will be looking to add his fourth Darwin Cup having previously saddled up winners with General Market (2007), Activation (2009) and Canny Ballad who claimed a memorable victory last year.
With Cayman Nites, Hickmott will look to build on the horse’s early success having placed in all five of her career starts to date.
