Two year-old filly Jolie Rose made light work of her rivals in the opening race of the day at Murray Bridge breaking through for her first career win in the Sambec Sheds/SaiboisTwo-Year-Old Benchmark64 (1200m).
Stepping up to 1200m for the first time in her career Jolie Rose and Damien Thornton where able to control the tempo of the race leading throughout. Approaching the straight the filly sprinted away from her opposition to win by five and a half lengths.
After showing consistent form in her five previous career starts, placing in four metropolitan races, Jolie Rose looked very well suited dropping back in grade to the provincial circuit.
Purchased from the 2016 Inglis Classic Sale for $20,000, Jolie Rose has already proved to be a bargain buy for connections becoming the eighth two-year-old winner for stallion Your Song.
Trainer Michael Hickmottsaid post-race he was thrilled for a great bunch of owners after today’s result and he is happy to have two more juveniles by Your Song in his stable.
My Giddy Aunt also took her place in the Carlton Draught Maiden Plate (1400m), having her third start in Australia for her new connections. The former Kiwi mare found clear running late and finished well to grab fourth.
