Damien Oliver had the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Prompt Response travelling smoothly outside of the leader Daysee Doom and the four year old mare responded in the run to the line to hold off all the challengers.

Prompt Response ($5) had a neck to spare over the consistent Oregon’s Day ($9) with Dixie Blossom ($4) coming from last on the home turn to finish in third position.

The $3.70 favourite Daysee Doom was run over at the finish, after leading, to finish fifth, three quarters of a length behind the winner.

Waterhouse said that Prompt Response would now step back up to Group 1 company and take on the fillies and mares again in the Group 1 $1m Coolmore Legacy Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Randwick in a fortnight on day two of The Championships.

“She is a very honest mare, a quality mare down to her tippy toes and at this level she is incredibly hard to beat,” Waterhouse said.

“I would say so,” said Waterhouse in reply to being asked if Prompt Response would now go onto the Queens Of The Turf Stakes.

The Win of Prompt Response wrapped up an early winning double for Waterhouse and Bott after Arbeitsam led all of the way to win the Group 3 $150,000 The Daily Telegraph Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m).

Prompt Response has now firmed in from $15 to be marked at $7.50 for the Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au.
