Stable apprentice Jessie Philpot has become a great asset to Team Sell in quick time. She knows the horses well and that was displayed in spades yesterday as she booted Madam Stryker home in fine style. Madam was nearing her last chance to show us that she wanted to continue racing. We know she has the talent to win these type of races but she just wasn’t showing it. She jumped well from a good gate and Jessie got a nice cushy spot from which Madam could launch at them, it got pretty tight in there at times and Jessie did well to wait for a run to open without panicking. Madam did the rest and went away to win.
We know Madam loves the sting out so the team will assess how she pulls up and we hope the weather gods are kind to her again next start. She has now racked up over $60,000 in prizemoney paying her way for the owners. Hopefully she now has her confidence back and can run up to her potential.
