Evergreen jockey Damien Oliver has been cleared by his doctor to take his rides at tonight’s Moir Stakes meeting at The Valley.

Oliver was in doubt after getting his left leg squashed in a barrier incident at Flemington on Wednesday and it was feared at one stage he might have sustained a fracture to his shin bone and would miss the 2018 Melbourne Spring Carnival.
Subsequent scans cleared Oliver of any break and the Melbourne Cup winning jockey has been given the okay to take his ride five rides at The Valley, including the mount on the Garry Frazer trained Spright in the Group 1 $500,000 Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes (1000m).
“He’s got the all-clear from the doctors and he’s fine to go,” Oliver’s manager Mark Van Triet told AAP.
Spright is marked as one of the outsiders of the Moir Stakes at $41 with Ladbrokes.com.au who have the Darren Weir trained Nature Strip marked as the clear cut $1.90 favourite.
Oliver also has five rides at Caulfield on Sunday, including the prized mount on the Mick Price trained Grunt in the Group 1 $750,000 Hyland Race Colours Underwood Stakes (1800m).
Oliver has been aboard Grunt for four of his last five starts which includes two Group 1 wins over the Flemington 1600m course in the $1m Australian Guineas (1600m) during the 2018 Melbourne Autumn Carnival and last start in the $750,000 PFD Food Services Makybe Diva Stakes a fortnight ago.
