Global Glamour will head to the 2017 Myer Classic after she returned to the races with a victory in the 2017 Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield this afternoon.
Global Glamour had not been seen at the races since her gallant second in the Group 2 Arrowfield Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick in April and she looked like she would need the run in the yard, but her class and toughness was enough to get her home.
Pure Passion loomed up alongside and looked as though she headed Global Glamour at one stage in the Tristarc Stakes, but the two-time Group 1 winning mare was able to tough it out to score another feature race win.
Jockey Tim Clark was quick to pay credit to the performance of Global Glamour in the Tristarc Stakes and he is hopeful that his maiden win at Caulfield will help him pick-up more rides during the 2017 Spring Racing Carnival.
“It was a really solid performance today,” Clark said.
“They came at her late, but she found a way to win and she is going to take a power of beating in the Myer because she looked as though she had a few lengths of improvement.
“It is going to be exciting times in a couple of weeks.
“Mentally she has developed a lot because she used to be a bit flighty and she has really settled down into a beautiful mare.
“It is my first winner at Caulfield, so it is a great thrill on a big day like today.
“Hopefully it helps with some more opportunities over the Carnival.”
Gai Waterhouse was keen to celebrate Global Glamour’s win in the Tristarc Stakes with her big group of female owners and she confirmed that the talented mare would have her next race start in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m).
Global Glamour will then be set for the Magic Millions Carnival at the Gold Coast in January before she potentially heads to England in 2018 for the Royal Ascot Meeting.
“She came down to go to the Myer and she may go to the Matriarch,” Waterhouse said.
“She is only coming here for three runs and then she will freshen up and go to Magic Millions.
“Hopefully we might go to Ascot.”
There were a host of hard luck stories in the Myer Classic and punters that backed Shillelagh and Petition were very unlucky not to walk away with the collect.
