Trainer James Cummings looks like getting his wish for a good rated track for Trekking in the 2019 Group 1 $700,000 Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The Eagle Farm track on race eve is rated a Good 4 which will suit Trekking whose seven wins have all be on top of the ground.
There is minimal chance of any rain between now and the Kingsford-Smith Cup starting time at 3.35pm and Kerrin McEvoy is certain to take full advantage of the rails draw in the eighteen horse field.
“He’s really building a great record and his last two wins are a great credit to him,” Cummings said.
“If the track stays relatively dry he’ll be well-suited. From his last seven runs on good tracks he’s won six.”
Trekking is racing in great form with wins at his last two starts but is stepping up in sharply in grade following his victories in the Group 3 $160,000 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 20 and in the Listed $140,000 Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) at Scone on May 11.
Trekking is currently the $6.50 favourite for the Kingsford-Smith Cup in a wide betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au who only have three runners under the $10 mark.
On the second line of betting at $7.50 is the Doomben 10,000 winner The Bostonian just ahead of Victory Stakes winner I Am Excited at $8.50 while the Chris Waller trained Ringerdingding and Victorem are marked at $10.
Cummings will also saddle up English import Home Of The Brave ($12) and three year old Encryption ($16).
