Penny To Sell proved too strong in the Procal Dairies Gunbower Cup following her last start win at Ballarat. Dropping back to the 1800 for the cup had no concerns from anyone inside our camp who firmly believed she was the fittest horse in the race and in our minds a ‘good thing’. Jockey Chris Nicoll rode a textbook race putting her in the perfect position coming out of the first turn sitting in fourth position staying out of trouble & ready to pounce. Chris pushed the go button coming into the final turn where Penny responded with strength easily ranging up to the leaders and on straightening when balanced she powered away from the field. I am certain she knew what the job was about the way she pranced about the mounting yard with an air of arrogance about her that only bolstered our confidence. Penny has been a model of consistency this prep, finally the luck has turned her way along with the team which has been enjoying a purple patch of wins. Congratulations also to Gunbower Race Club who prepared a superb surface for racing with a record crowd in attendance.
