Popular nine year old Foundry has failed a second vet’s inspection and has been scratched from the inaugural running of the $5m All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
The Kris Lees trained first emergency Le Romain now gains a start while West Austalian galloper Material Man and the Chris Munce trained Urban Ruler’s places are still under a cloud.
As well as Foundry having to undergo a second inspection by the Racing Victoria Vets after being found to be lame on Thursday, Material Man and Urban Ruler were also scheduled to be looked at again this morning to ascertain their fitness after also showing soreness yesterday.
Material Man is currently marked at $21 for the All-Star Mile at Ladbrokes.com.au while Urban Ruler is marked as the outsider of the field at $151.
Foundry was marked at $126 at the time of his withdrawal.
Hancox Racing Syndicate manager Shelley Hancox said that x-rays of Urban Ruler’s front joints had come up clear and he was diagnosed to have a bruised heel.
‘’We actually had his joints X-rayed yesterday to make sure as there is nothing there and his joints are as clean as they can be,’’ Hancox told racing.com.
‘’He has a slightly bruised heel, which could have been stirred up by a long float trip. If we had until tomorrow morning there would be no doubt he’d be 100 per cent so we’re crossing everything that he can get through (the vet check).’’
Le Romain is currently marked at $13 and while Trap For Fools (second emergency) is listed at $20, Hellova Street (third emergency) at $34 and He Or She (fourth emergency) is at the long odds of $101.
The James Cummings trained Alizee heads the betting for the All-Star Mile at $3.70 but is being pressured at the top of the market order by the Australian Guineas winner Mystic Journey who has firmed in from $4.40 to $3.90.
