Unbeaten Queensland three year old Alligator Blood has been given the visitor’s draw in Saturday’s Group 3 $160,000 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) at Rosehill.

Alligator Blood will carry the top weight of 59kg and will have to overcome the outside barrier in the eleven horse Ming Dynasty Quality field and Sunshine Coast trainer David Vandyke will leave the riding instructions up to Ryan Maloney.
“Ryan and the barrier will determine where he sits in the run,” Vandyke told Sky Racing Radio.
Maloney was aboard Alligator Blood when he kept his winning record intact at three from three with his three lengths win in a 1200m three year old Handicap at Doomben on August 10 and the young hoop was keen to follow the gelding to Sydney.
“Ryan has a big opinion of the horse and he was very quick to accept the offer and Ryan was happier than I was when he got the sought of weight where he could ride at his best,” Vandyke said.
“He is a heavy jockey and anything over 56kg he doesn’t have to waste too much.”
The Rosehill track was rated a soft 5 when acceptances were taken on Wednesday and with the prospect of more rain in the lead up to the weekend could put Alligator Blood’s southern debut in some doubt.
“I am yet to have a discussion with the owners. I wouldn’t want to see him have a gut buster with the 59kg on his first trip away, so if the track to gets to a heavy 8 or beyond, we will have a serious sit down and work out whether we run or not,” Vandyke said.
“But at this stage we will watch the track rating, watch the sky and if we need to have that discussion we will.”
Vandyke said that Alligator Blood’s performance in the Ming Dynasty Quality will determine the remainder of the gelding’s Spring Carnival program.
“I am expecting him to run well and whether he is worthy of staying south for some of the better races will be determined by his performance on Saturday,” Vandyke said.
Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller will saddle up two runners in the Ming Dynasty Quality with Tommy Berry to ride Maddi Rocks (barrier 10) and Kathy O’Hara will partner Reformist.
Kiwi training partnership of Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman have arrived early for the 2018 Sydney Spring Carnival with two New Zealand Listed race winners in Quick Thinker (Hugh Bowman, barrier 9) and Rhaegar (Jason Collett, barrier 5).
James Cummings will saddle up the unbeaten Subedar who will jump from gate two with Kerrin McEvoy holding the reins.
