Just a wonderful story for all involved with Antah trouncing his rivals at Caulfield yesterday. He is now 3/3 since joining the team and is testimony to a horse responding to kindness and care. His owners have shown the patience of Job, hoping the wait would be worth it ,a $100,000 plus in prize money this prep suggests it’s going to be.
It wasn’t about money yesterday.Hugs and some tears were the order of the day. Owned by passionate Tasmanians the steering was done by another proud Tassie boy.A first city winner back for Jason Maskiell , the ride was as good as any you will see yesterday and the poor bugger had the life squeezed out of him by all connections.
An awful week for racing but in the winners room at Caulfield we couldn’t have been happier. This horse has responded and repaid every inch of love and care he has received on the comeback trial. He has 10 odd clucking mothers at the stables and pretty close to an equal amount of fathers ,he is beautiful boy who just wants to please.
We are achieving all we set out to achieve when we set the new team in place just over six months ago. The next three weeks will be intense and downright scary with Brooklyn Hustle heading towards the Group 1 Blue Diamond. If she was to land the prize then safe to say we will have somewhat surpassed the short term goals we set for ourselves .The days are long but are in equal measure very happy.
