Ardra Storm is a grumpy mare and she created a storm of controversy when winning at Ararat in February. Some keyboard warriors felt she should never be allowed to race again for her antics on that day. We say it was out of character for her and Robbo did a magnificent job to stay on board.
In any event Ardra has answered her critics in the best manner possible putting together another 2 wins, a second and a third in her next 4 races without putting a foot wrong. She has gone from BM 58 to only just being run down in BM 70 and BM 78 races at Sandown running outside her preferred trip. The team also achieved another racing milestone of 3 in a row and we all know how difficult that is to do.
Her now perfect race day manners and performance can be attributed to the work of Mick and his team who deliver high levels individual care and attention to their horses, working tirelessly to iron out the wrinkles. Her owner, Dr. Paul Pittorino, recently commented:
“Mick, Mel and the team have made my mare produce what I always thought she could whilst dealing with a mare that can be irascible and downright nasty. She is produced in tip top condition every raceday and I really value their ability to get an extended prep out of her. That they do all this for less than half the training fees of the big boys is amazing and I am eternally grateful.”
Ardra is getting close to a spell over winter and the team are excited with the potential for her to continue working through her classes with a view to a city win soon.
