The Grant and Alana Williams trained Regal Power is one three runners in the Railway Stakes owned by prominent Perth owner Bob Peters who said it was the right the time to initiate the gear change.

“We’ve held them back and it’s time to try them,” Peters told The West Australian.

Karnup trainer Adam Durrant will saddle Peters’ other two Railway Stakes runners, 2019 Perth Cup winner Star Exhibit and the Redoute’s Choice mare Perfect Jewel.

Regal Power showed his versatility during his three year old season with a win in the Group 2 $400,000 WATC Derby over 2400m at Ascot in April this year and he is also a winner over the same course and distance as the Railway Stakes with his victory in the $100,000 Lex Piper Stakes in the lead up to the WATC Derby.

Regal Power has had one run back from a break for a first up second in the Group 3 $150,000 Asian Beau Stakes over 1400m at Ascot on November 2 and Perth’s leading jockey William Pike will be aboard the four year old again in the Railway Stakes.

Bookies at Ladbrokes.com.au have Regal Power on the third line of betting for the Railway Stakes at $8 alongside of Asian Beau Stakes winner Samizdat while The Velvet King heads the market order at $6.50 just ahead of Tellem We’re Comin at $7.
