Favourite Loving Gaby will have to pass a second vet’s inspection if she is to be passed fit to take her place in the 2019 Group 1 $1.5m Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Loving Gaby is the ruling $5 favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Group 1 for the two year olds and will have to undergo an second inspection after the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained filly was found to be lame in the off side fore leg when inspected by Racing Victoria vets today.
The Mick Price trained Shotmaker was also found to be lame in the off side fore leg will also be examined on Friday before being clear to take his place in the Blue Diamond Stakes.
Racing Victoria released the following statement on twitter confirming the outcomes from today’s vet inspections.
“Racing Victoria (RV) veterinarians have today completed their inspections of the 14 horses accepted to run in the Group 1 $1.5 million Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) to determine their suitability to race on Saturday, 23 February at Caulfield.”
“Two horses will be re-examined by veterinarians tomorrow, the Mick Price trained Shotmaker and the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained Loving Gaby, after both horses presented with lameness in their right fore limb.”
“RV will provide a further update tomorrow, following the completion of the re-inspections.”
Loving Gaby has had one race start for the Caron Maher – David Eustace training partnership for a very impressive last to first victory in the Group 3 $160,000 Ladbrokes Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on February 2 and has drawn barrier twelve in the fourteen horse Blue Diamond Stakes field with Damian Lane booked to ride again.
