Hugh Bowman has been cleared to ride at Saturday’s Golden Slipper Stakes Day meeting and has been booked to partner D’Argento who is one six Chris Waller trained three year olds among the nominations for the Group 1 $600,000 Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas (2000m).

Twenty-six three year olds have been nominated for the Rosehill Guineas and the entries also includes last year’s Victoria Derby winner Ace High and Darren Weir’s in-form Cliff’s Edge.
Bowman was cleared today to resume riding after suffering concussion when he was thrown from Waller’s number one Golden Slipper Stakes fancy Performer when he ducked out in the straight in the Group 2 $300,000 UNSW Todman Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on March 10.
Performer was sent back to the trials and showed no signs of any waywardness in winning a 737m Randwick barrier trial on March 15 and Bowman will be back aboard the Exceed And Excel colt in Saturday’s Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m).
D’Argento looks the best off Waller’s six Rosehill Guineas nominations and the $6 second favourite is coming off a last start seventh to Kementari in the Group 1 $1m Mostyn Copper Group Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Randwick on March 10.
Waller’s other Rosehill Guineas entries are Kaonic, So You Win, Tangled, Tangmere, and The Mayor.
Victoria’s leading trainer Darren Weir will make a decision later in the week is Cliff’s Edge backs up week to week and makes the trip north after leading all of the way to win the Group 2 $200,000 Hacer Group Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) at The Valley last Friday night.
Ace High proved to be the superior staying three year old during the 2017 Spring Carnival with wins in the Group 1 $500,000 Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick and in the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington.
Trainer David Payne has gradually increased Ace High’s distances in three Autumn Carnival outings and the High Chaparral colt is coming off a last start fourth to Kementari in the Randwick Guineas.
Ace High is the early $4.60 favourite for the Rosehill Guineas with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of D’Argento at $6 and Cliff’s Edge at $8.
