Exciting filly Cellsabeel remains the odds favourite after drawing a single figure barrier in the 2020 $2m Inglis Millennium – 2yos (1100m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday.
A final field of fourteen plus four emergencies make up the Inglis Millennium with Cellsabeel coming up with barrier five but will likely jump from gate four with one of the reserves drawing inside of her.
Tommy Berry will be back aboard Cellsabeel after steering the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained filly to a six lengths win in a 1100m two year old Handicap on a heavy Rosehill track on January 18.
Cellsabeel has been installed as the $1.50 favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Inglis Millennium and another impressive win will see the Hinchinbrook filly hold her spot at the top of the market order for the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 21.
Cellsabeel is currently the $5.50 favourite for the Golden Slipper at Ladbrokes.com.au.
“She’s en route to the Slipper and she looked to do that pretty easy,” Maher told Sky Thoroughbred Central after her Rosehill victory.
“Right from the start – just look at the coat on her – she’s always dappled up, even when she comes in from the paddock.
“She’s always been a real high-quality horse that we just put the shades (blinkers) on to give her that little focus and it was just the trick she needed.”
The John Sargent trained Encountabull is the second pick in the betting and has also drawn in close at barrier two with James McDonald to ride.
Encountabull will wear the blinkers for the first time in the Inglis Millennium on the recommendation of McDonald who rode the Bull Point colt to win a 1045m Randwick barrier trial on January 23.
“James thought that when he got to the front in that trial, he was looking around so we have added blinkers for Saturday and he will run in them for the first time,” Sargent told Sky Racing’s Racing HQ.
“He is a colt and colts can be a bit like that. They can sometimes just do what they want to do.”
“I put them on and we gave him a jump out on Friday at Randwick and he flew the gates. So he is in good form.”
Trainer Chris Waller will saddle up Osamu who drew barrier three with Kerrin McEvoy to ride and the leading trainer also accepted with third emergency Tight Ropes.
The Lindsay Park Team will have two runners in the Inglis Millennium with Fixated with Regan Bayliss from barrier nine, and Bella Nipotina for Brenton Avdulla from gate sixteen in the original draw.
