Maxey Campo stamped himself as a serious contender for the final of the Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Series with a convincing win at Ballarat yesterday.
Although he was already qualified after running second in one of the heats at his last start, Symon thought the 5yo gelding could do with one more run between his last start and the final on Oaks day at Flemington. What a result that proved…Maxey Campo is now a winner of a $50,000 heat and is a live chance, in a feature race, for his owners during the spring carnival.
When ridden with cover, just off the speed, Maxey Campo has a great turn of foot and we seen that yesterday at Ballarat.
After 22 starts, Maxey Campo is now a winner five times with another nine minor placings.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
