The Lindsay Park trained Crosshaven firmed in the Caulfield Guineas betting following his win in the Listed $140,000 Antler Luggage Exford Plate (1400m) at Flemington today.
The Tom Dabernig and Ben Hayes trained Crosshaven was $34 at Ladbrokes.com.au before the running of the Exford Plate but has now halved his price to $17 for the Group 1 $2m Neds Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10.
Winning jockey Daniel Stackhouse went forward from the outside barrier and settled Crosshaven ($9) just behind the leader Bartley ($4.80).
Crosshaven started to get wound up when heads were turned for home and got the better of Bartley at the 250m and went on top record a one and a half lengths win.
Bartley battled on for second with Cherry Tortoni ($5.50) running home for third.
The $3.70 favourite Immortal Love had a lovely ruin in transit just behind the leading division but faded in the straight to finish last in the eleven horse field.
The Danny O’Brien trained Flying Award remains the $7 favourite for the Caulfield Guineas ahead of the Blue Diamond Stakes winner Tagaloa at $9 and King’s Legacy and North Pacific at $10.
