Unbeaten colt Farnan has been cleared to give trainer Gai Waterhouse a chance to win her fifth $2m The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast today.
Farnan was cleared to take his place in the glamour race for the two year olds after Racing Queensland vets passed him fit following a third inspection this morning.
QRIC Stewards released the following statement on twitter this morning, making the way for the $6.50 second favourite to line up in the final field of sixteen juveniles.
“A veterinary examination this morning of FARNAN has cleared the colt to compete in the 2YO Magic Millions,” QRIC Stewards tweeted.
Farnan has been under a cloud all week after producing a sizzling gallop at the Gold Coast last Saturday and will jump from gate four with Tim Clark in the saddle again but has been listed to
race with Synthetic Hoof Filler for the first time.
Clark was aboard Farnan for his win in the $200,000 Magic Millions Wyong 2yo Classic (1100m) at Wyong on December 12 which followed his debut win at Canterbury on November 17 with Winona Costin in the saddle.
Waterhouse shares the training of Farnan with co-trainer Adrian Bott but the First Lady Of The Turf has prepared four Magic Millions 2yo Classic winners under her own name.
Waterhouse’s first of four wins in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic was with Assertive Lad in 2000 followed by Excellerator (2001), Dance Hero (2004) and Driefontein (2012).
The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Aim is clinging onto favouritism at $5.50 at Ladbrokes.com.au while his stablemate King’s Legacy is the third pick at $7.
Team Snowden will also saddle up outsiders Stellar Pauline ($18) and Nitrous ($26).
Aim will come out out of barrier two with Tommy Berry in the saddle while King’s Legacy will jump from gate seven and will be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy who will be trying to win back to back Magic Millions 2yo Classics after claiming the winning trophy last year on the James Cummings trained Exhilarates.
