Connections of the talented four year old Graff are hoping an impressive barrier trial win at Newcastle on Monday will grab the interest of the four remaining slot owners for the 2019 $14m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 19.
The Kris Lees trained Graff finished fifth behind Redzel in the 2018 The Everest for slot holders Max Whitby and Neil Werret and owner Alan Bell would love to see the promising sprinter take his place in this year’s running of the glamour Spring Carnival sprint.
“No doubt Kris and Alana Bell would like to get another chance with Graff,” stable representative Lucas Miller said.
Brenton Avdulla was aboard Graff when he cruised to an impressive win in 900m trial on the course proper at Newcastle, beating stablemate In Her Time who is already locked in to run for slot holder Inglis in The Everest.
“Graff was super and he has come back in great order,” Miller said.
“We already got In Her Time representing Inglis in The Everest.”
Graff is due to kick off his 2019 Spring Carnival campaign in the Group 3 $160,000 Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on September 7 and an eye catching performance will enhance his chances of being picked up in one of the remaining Everest slots.
