A large group of owners and just as large a group of slot holders are set to celebrate Handle The Truth’s victory in the $1.3m The Kosciuszko (1200m) at Randwick today.
Winning trainer Keith Dryden was quick to praise the ride of Nash Rawiller and all of his staff who have worked tirelessly to prepare Handle The Truth for his trip from Canberra to Randwick.
“There are twenty-seven owners in the horse and the slot holders there are twenty-five of them,” Dryden said.
“I said you don’t tell Nash anything. I said Nash you will be on the bunny somewhere.”
“I spoke to Peter Snowden and he said that I think you are a hundred per cent chance so he made me feel better coming into it.”
Rawiller had Handle The Truth ($7) travelling sweetly just behind the leading division and eased over heels on top of the rise to give the gelding a clear run to the line to claim a popular one length win.
The top weight and $2.70 favourite Victorem was held up slightly at the top of the straight but found open spaces to run on for second with $26 outsider Bobbing stretching out boldly to claim third spot just ahead of Noble Boy ($6).
Handle The Truth is now the winner of seven of his thirteen race starts and today’s first prizemoney cheque of $680,000 has tipped his overall earnings just of the million dollar mark.
