Bowman also nominated Begood Toya Mother for the $125,000 Open Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield as well as the Listed $100,000 Penny Edition Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville Parks in Adelaide.

Begood Toya Mother scored his sixth win since March with an all the way victory in the Listed $140,000 Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 17 and Bowman is considering stepping the five year old up to weight for age in the Memsie Stakes on the weekend.

“I had to put a nom in for the Memsie,” Bowman told AAP.

“Early on it was sounding like it may not be a big field and might not be overly strong, so we had to give ourselves the option.

“It really comes down to what is going to be the best option for him to have him cherry ripe for the Sir Rupert Clarke.

Bowman has his eye on the Group 1 $500,000 Ladbrokes Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on September 21 for Begood Toya Mother who will be better suited under the handicap conditions of the 1400m sprint.

“He’s definitely ready to run this weekend then have the three weeks to the Sir Rupert Clarke,” Bowman said.

“Getting more rating points on Saturday will help but we still want to beat the handicapper, obviously,” Bowman said.

“It’s a fine line.”

Begood Toya Mother is one of seventeen nominations for the Memsie Stakes which includes last year’s winner Humidor as well as Group 1 winners Hartnell, Black Heart Bart, Alizee, Kenedna, Scales Of Justice, Oohood, Despatch, Aloisia and Qafila.
