The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Invincible Star has only been to the race track on five occasions for two wins but her best effort was a second to Merchant Navy in the Group 1 $1m Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington during the 2017 Melbourne Spring Carnival.

The I Am Invincible mare hasn’t raced since but was snapped up by GPI Racing to fill their slot in the $13m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 13 on the back of a ten lengths barrier trial win at Randwick on August 13.

Co-trainer Adrian Bott said that while Invincible Star was primed to run well over 1000m first up in the Concorde Stakes, he added that the speedster will take a lot of benefit out of the run.

“She gets good conditions on the weekend but we’re still a while away from the main prize so it’s still not D-Day for her on Saturday,” Bott told The Daily Telegraph.

“She’s got nothing to prove on Saturday but we’re going there confident of where she’s at and we expect her to run really well for us.

“The 1000m will suit and it will be a very good test for her but there will still be improvement to come.”

“We’re delighted with her. She had a nice gallop at Canterbury last week, which was her main piece of work. She trialled strongly and we gave her a good hitout in that trial so she was nice and forward for this run.”

“The Everest is a big help in making these sprints even more competitive.”

Invincible Star has been installed as the second favourite at $2.30 for the Concorde Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au with her main rival being the Team Snowden trained Redzel at $1.70.

Redzel was the winner of the inaugural running of The Everest last year and has been secured by slot holder Yulong Investments for this year’s Everest.

James McDonald gets the ride on Invincible Star who has drawn barrier four in the nine horse Concorde Stakes field while Redzel will jump from gate six for Kerrin McEvoy.
