An excellent gallop in preparation for next week’s bigger race, with Irish Constabulary winning over 1000m at the Sunshine Coast.
Whilst the field had only 3 runners, Irish excelled in the testing Heavy 9 conditions, carrying 62kgs, 8kgs more than his opposition.
Jockey Michael Hellyer rates the 9yo very patiently in 3rd position behind the leader, and as he loves to do, Irish railed up and outsprinted the competition under hands and heels to win decisively.
Next step is the city meeting at the Sunshine Coast next Saturday, and trainer John Symons will nominate for both the 1000m Lightning Handicap and the 1200m Moreton Cup and decide which way to head later in the week.
Based on today’s performance and assuming the track will remain soft and to his liking, it is hard not to see Irish running a great race next week.
Congratulations to all!
