Twenty-two three year olds were nominated for the Coolmore Stud Stakes that will also see the first Melbourne appearance of the Gerald Ryan trained Trapeze Artist who is coming off a last start win in the Group 1 $1m De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill on September 23.

All three of the Lindsay Park trained fillies have performed well in high class company with Catchy being freshened up after running third behind Mighty Boss and Kementari in the Group 1 $2m Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 14.

The Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have engaged three times Ladbrokes Cox Plate winning jockey Hugh Bowman to ride the Fastnet Rock filly.

“She’s been racing consistently as a three-year-old, but as a two-year-old, I thought she was a cut above them,” Bowman told RSN 927’s Racing Pulse.

“As the three-year-old season came around, there’s been no horse that has put their hand up to say I’m a dominant horse.

“I think back to 1200m will suit her, but we’ll get more of a guide after this morning – looking forward to getting on her.”

Formality, also a Fastnet Rock filly, is the winner of three of her last four starts and is coming off a last start win in the Group 3 $350,000 Catanach’s Jewellers Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on October 18.

Tulip has also performed well at the highest level with a third behind She Will Reign and Frolic in the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill during the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival and returned to Sydney last start for a fifth against the older sprinters in the $10m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 14.

The Godolphin Team under the eye of trainer James Cummings has a strong presence in the Coolmore Stud Stakes nominations with Banipur, Kementari, Malahat and Viridine all among the nominations.

Kementari is coming off a last start second in the Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas while Virdine made it four wins from four outings with a last start victory in the Group 2 $300,000 Polytrack Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 7.

The Tulloch Lodge Team of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have nominated last start Thoroughbred Club Stakes winner Invincible Star and Gold Coast trainer Toby Edmonds had entered 2017 Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Houtzen and last Saturday’s Telstra Phonecard Stakes winner Eptimum.

Invincible Star and Viridine share early favouritism at $6.50 for the Coolmore Stud Stakes with Ladbrokes.com.au just ahead of Catchy at $7 and Houtzen and Jukebox at $8.
