Trainer Anthony Freedman will send Super Seth to Flemington next start to be tested for the Coolmore Stud Stakes after the colt scored an impressive win in the Group 3 $160,000 H.D.F. McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield today.

Freedman will test Super Seth down the Flemington straight in a fortnight to get a guide if he will keep the Dundeel three year old to the sprinting distances and then run in the Group 1 $1.5m Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on November 2.

Freedman’s other option if he thinks Super Seth is looking for further is to aim him towards the Group 1 $2m Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 12.

“He (Super Seth) got a lovely run, was closer than I thought he would be, and would probably be better with more speed in his races which will happen as the races get better,” Freedman said.

“He may go to Flemington in two weeks and run up the straight, that is an option.”

“And then he could go to the Guineas Prelude and we will have a look at him there and see where he is at. He could then switch back to the 1200m (Coolmore Stud Stakes) or go onto the mile (Caulfield Guineas).”

Winning jockey Mark Zahra gave Super Seth ($3.60 favourite) a lovely run in fourth spot while his stablemate King Of Hastings ($3.90) set the pace.

Super Seth went to the line the better and overhauled King Of Hastings who held on for second giving Freedman the quinella with Sebrakate ($9) finishing third.

“Both lovely horses,” Freedman said.

“The second horse is very honest and we really didn’t want to lead.”
