Promising filly Moss Trip will need plenty of luck after drawing the outside barrier in the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Moss Trip will jump from the outside gate in the final sixteen horse field and Brenton Avdulla will have no option but to settle near the rear of the field on the backmarker.
The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Moss Trip runs her best races when allowed to relax in the second half of the field as she did last start before running home to fill third spot behind Tattersall’s Club Tiara rivals Invincibella and Prompt Response in the Group 2 $200,000 Bundaberg Rum Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on June 9.
“We need a bit of luck from the draw but she measured up very well in the Dane Ripper last time out and very much deserves to take her chance here,” Peter Snowden said.
Randwick based Peter Snowden travelled up to Queensland during the week to oversee Moss Trip’s final gallop leading into the weekend and was very happy with what he saw.
“She looks particularly well up there,” Snowden said.
“I went up to see her on Tuesday and she looked fantastic, she really has settled in well here.
“She worked very strongly that morning in her last piece of fast work before Saturday. She was very sharp.”
Team Snowden will be searching for back to back wins in the Tattersall’s Club Tiara after collecting the winning trophy last year with Tycoon Tiara.
Moss Trip’s wide barrier has seen her price drift out to $11 for the Tattersall’s Club Tiara with Ladbrokes.com.au who have Champagne Cuddles as the $5.50 favourite.
On the second line of betting at $6 is the well supported Prompt Response just ahead of Stradbroke Handicap runner up Super Cash and locally trained Savanna Amour who share the next line at $9.
