The betting markets for the 2019 Group 1 $1m Kennedy Oaks (2500m) at Flemington on November 7 is wide open after ninety-five fillies were listed in the nominations.

The Mark Newnham trained Celestial Falls has been installed as the $10 favourite at Ladbrokes.com.au for the Kennedy Oaks which will be run at the first twilight meeting of the four day Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Celestial Falls is the winner of two of her five race starts and kicked off her Kennedy Oaks campaign with a first up second in a Fillies and Mares BenchMark 70 Handicap over 1300m on the Kensington track at Randwick on September 4 followed by a win against the three year old fillies in the Kennedy Oaks Trial (1800m) at Flemington on September 25.
Newnham’s filly Greysful Glamour finished second in the 2018 Kennedy Oaks and the Randwick trainer is hoping to go one better this year.
“This is a lovely big relaxed filly that has always shown she’ll stay,” Newnham said.
“I didn’t have any hesitation going from 1300 (metres) to 1800 second-up.
“She only had a small three-week break from her win at Randwick as a late two-year-old and I’ve always had the Oaks path in mind for her.
“This looks a nice pathway to the Oaks in its short history so let’s hope that when we get to the Oaks we can adjust that a bit and instead of running second, we get the money.”
The training partnership of Tony and Calvin McEvoy have topped the number of nominations for the Kennedy Oaks with eight, the Lindsay Park Team has nominated seven fillies, James Cummings has five while Chris Waller and the training partners Ciaron Maher and David Eustace both have four entries for the Blue Riband for the fillies.
First acceptances for the Kennedy Oaks will be taken at 12 noon (AET) on Tuesday, 22 October.
