The Kris Lees stable has given Princess Posh the all clear to take her place in the 2019 Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Princess Posh was back in favour with a slashing second at triple figure odds to The Bostonian in the Group 1 $700,000 Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on May 25 but was then a shock race day scratching from the Group 1 $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm a fortnight later.
On course Racing Queensland vets deemed that Princess Posh was lame and subsequently withdrew her an hour before the Group 1 feature sprint but the Lees stable has declared her fit to take on the top quality field of fillies and mares this weekend following a solid gallop on the Doomben course proper last week.
“She ran smart time at Doomben and the vet went over her and gave a thumbs-up,” stable representative Mel Eggleston told AAP.
“She is bucking her brand off up here. Kris believes a month between runs won’t do her any harm.”
Princess Posh has been placed twice at Group 1 level and as well as being runner up in the Kingsford-Smith Cup, finished third behind Dixie Blossoms and El Dorado Dreaming in the $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill during the 2019 Sydney Autumn Carnival.
Pre-post betting at Ladbrokes.com.au has Princess Posh marked at $13 for the Tattersall’s Tiara while the three James Cummings trained horses sit at the top of the market order with Savatiano the $5 favourite ahead of Pohutukawa at $6 and Multaja at $9.
