Sometimes you just get a feel from a young horse that leaves you in no doubt of their class. Our Per Incanto filly Trilli has been that horse from the very first time she galloped at Denistoun Park. Trainer has been adamant and unswerving in his belief that she will make up into a special horse. Yesterday at Sandown we saw the first glimpses of her ability and the sectionals she produced were sizzling .
After her prep debut run at Sale we were pretty crest fallen but in the cold light of day the defeat came at the hands of classy race experienced horses. Armed with that experience her turn of foot was seen at its devastating best and she won in the style of a horse going places. Pre race virtually every runner was being touted as a winning chance and a smart horse. Post race it was evident that the losing connections were feeling the pain we felt at Sale .
She didn’t cost a fortune and came from the Inglis Classic Sale . Frankly who buys an NZ bred filly from the Classic Sale , the boss did and it’s starting to look like going against the pack will pay dividends . A big well done to those owners who supported him , plenty of them were on track to cheer her home.
Where to next is yet to be decided. The team are slowly but surely achieving consistent results with our city runners . We have no desire to conquer the world , we do however desire to build our culture of quality over quantity . Despite the budgets we operate within our owners expect the chance to race at the highest level. Trilli , Bel Sonic and Tarcoola Spirit to name but three are doing just that . What is even more exciting is that amongst the yearlings we are already seeing signs that we have some real class that should shine bright with the Warren polish . Happy days all round.
