The Chris Waller trained Kubrick and Yes Yes Yes have a great chance to repeat the premiership winning trainer’s feat of last year if they can quinella the 2019 Group 1 $1m Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
Waller saddled up The Autumn Sun and Zousain to run first and second twelve months ago in the 2018 Golden Rose and the pair will get every chance after Kubrick drew the rails in the eight horse field with Yes Yes Yes drawn next to him in gate two.
Both three year old’s have had one run back from a spell with Yes Yes Yes finishing second to Golden Rose rival Bivouac in the Group 2 $200,000 Sydney Markets Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill on September 14 while Kubrick was fourth in the same race.
Waller expects improvement from both colts and can see them peaking for their Group 1 assignment.
“They have improved since that race in terms of their fitness and are close to their peak,’’ Waller told The Daily Telegraph.
“I plan to give them a solid gallop (Tuesday morning) to top off their preparation for the race.
“Nash Rawiller rode Yes Yes Yes last start and is on him again, and James McDonald sticks with Kurbrick.
“I hope we can quinella the Golden Rose like last year.’’
Nash Rawiller rode Yes Yes Yes in the Run To The Rose and will be aboard the Rubick colt again in the Golden Rose and James McDonald has retained the ride on Kubrick.
The Richard Litt trained Castlevecchio will carrier the number one saddle cloth and will jump from gate three with Josh Parr taking over the reins again from stand in jockey Jay Ford who was aboard last start when the colt was a first up fourth in the Listed $150,000 Dulcify Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on September 14.
James Cummings will saddle up Run To The Rose winner Bivouac who draw barrier six, while the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Dawn Passage has drawn the outside gate.
Betting for the 2019 Golden Rose at Ladbrokes.com.au: $3.10 Bivouac, $3.90 Exceedance, $4.60 Yes Yes Yes, $8 Yao Dash, $8.50 Kubrick, $13 Castlevecchio, $26 Dawn Passage, $34 Prince Fawaz.
