Super star Winx will make a race day appearance in a specially convened jump out at Randwick on Chelmsford Stakes Race Day on Saturday.
Winx, with Hugh Bowman aboard, will jump out before the first race with her Chris Waller trained stablemates D’Argento (James McDonald), The Autumn Sun (Kerrin McEvoy ) and Foxplay (Jay Ford).
Winx collected her twenty-sixth win in a row when she scored a first up win in the Group 1 $500,000 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 18 and is likely to have her next 20118 Spring Carnival start in the Group 1 $500,000 Colgate Optic White (George Main) Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on September 15.
The 2017 Chelmsford Stakes was included among Winx’s winning sequence and Waller will have a strong presence again this with six runners in the final field plus one of the emergencies.
Included in Winx’s Spring Carnival campaign is a fourth appearance in the Group 1 $5m Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m) at The Valley on October 27 and another victory would give the headline mare four straight wins in the weight for age championship.
Waller said that Winx has come through the run in the Winx Stakes in great shape and after several sessions on the aqua walker was back at the track midweek.
“She has come through the race very well,” Waller said.
“She is picture perfect and she is where she is needed to be and if anything she has come back just as well, she is certainly not slowing down.”
Waller will saddle the $3.50 favourite Unforgotten in the Chelmsford Stakes while Single Gaze at $8 is the master trainer’s only other runner under the $10 mark at Ladbrokes.com.au.
The Kris Lees trained Prized Icon is on the second line of betting at $6 ahead of the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Cabeza De Vaca at $7.50 while his stablemate Sedanzer and the James Cummings’ Irish import Mr Moonlight Magic are both marked at $9.50.
