Unbeaten two year old Zoustyle will be sent to the spelling paddock before being prepared for a Summer and an Autumn campaign.
Zoustyle debuted with a five lengths win in a 1110m Doomben two year old maiden before keeping his winning record intact with a three and a quarter lengths win in a 1000m two year old Handicap at the Sunshine Coast last Saturday.
Premiership winning trainer Tony Gollan said that he would bypass the Spring with the 2019 Sydney Autumn Carnival the main target early next year but added that the Zoustar gelding would have a light Summer campaign before getting ready for Sydney’s rich Autumn Carnival.
“He ran good time again (58.81s) which is good and he was very impressive once again,” Gollan said.
“The spring has probably come a bit too early for him this time so I’ll put him away for a decent spell.
“This is his first preparation so I’ll let him enjoy it and he can come back matured and a lot stronger.
“He’s a good horse in the making and deserves to be looked after.
“He’ll come back after a break and have one or two runs and possibly in a Stakes before we look at the Sydney autumn with him.”
Zoustyle was the first leg of a winning double for Gollan on The Queen’s Cup Race Day at the Sunshine Coast and later in the day the leading Eagle Farm trainer saddled up Jetsonic to win the Class 3 Plate over 1000m.
As the 2017 – 2018 racing season draws to a close, Gollan is in line to claim his fifth Brisbane Metropolitan trainers’ premiership and is currently sitting on 86 metropolitan winners for the season, way ahead of his nearest rival Toby Edmonds on 55.
